4 Signs it's Time to Replace your Boiler

March 04, 2017

Is it time to replace your new boiler? Finch Air Conditioning & Heating Inc is here with a few signs to look for when determining whether it’s time to purchase a new boiler.

Age

If your condensing boiler has routine maintenance, you can expect it to last about 15 years or more. Cast iron boilers can last even longer, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is coming up on 15 years or your cast iron boiler is almost 50 years, it may be time to discuss an upgrade.

Bills

If your energy bills are increasing or you’re having to maintain your boiler more repeatedly, it could be because it’s time to purchase a new, more efficient boiler.

Discoloration

If you see yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be an indicator that the fuel is not burning adequately and could be generating carbon monoxide. If you see these issues or have any concerns regarding carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Finch Air Conditioning & Heating Inc or your gas company straightaway.

Comfort

If some of the sections in your home are too hot or too cold and you can’t seem to control them appropriately or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is no longer effective and you may need to look into upgrade options.
