4 Signs it's Time to Replace your Boiler

March 04, 2017

Is your boiler in need of replacing? Finch Air Conditioning & Heating is here with a couple indicators to look for when determining whether it’s time to purchase a new boiler.

Age

If your condensing boiler has routine maintenance, you can expect it to last about 15 years or longer. Cast iron boilers can last decades, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is coming up on 15 years or your cast iron boiler is almost 50 years, it may be time to discuss an upgrade.

Bills

If your heating bills are rising or you’re having to service your boiler more repeatedly, it could be because it’s time to purchase a new, more efficient boiler.

Discoloration

If you see yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be an indicator that the fuel is not burning adequately and could be generating carbon monoxide. If you see these issues or have any concerns about carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Finch or your gas company immediately.

Comfort

If some of the sections in your home are too hot or too cold and you can’t seem to control them properly or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is not effective anymore and you may need to look into upgrade options.
