The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was excited to donate over 300 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in the Texas city.
“Last September, I had the opportunity to get a group together to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an incredible experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They go beyond collecting food – they are a vital part of this community.”
Cheryl Jackson began Minnie’s Food Pantry as a way to recognize her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent much of her childhood wondering if and where she would receive her next meal. In addition to providing meals to families in need, Minnie’s also holds classes to teach families how to incorporate the food they are given to cook nourishing, long-lasting meals. They also give resume assistance along with financial and job classes to help people get back on their feet.
Since the families receive approximately 50 pounds of food to get them through the month, Service Experts was able to provide meals for six families for the month.
“Everyone was so excited that we had this food drive for them, and they even took time to show us their amazing facility,” Wilson said.
